Chestnut Turban (Turbo castanea)

Natural Chestnut Turban shell, known scientifically as Turbo castanea.

Recognisable for its rounded, solid spiral form and warm chestnut brown colouring, this species has a strong, weighty feel for its size. The surface often shows subtle banding and natural pattern variation, with a smooth inner aperture.

These shells are vintage shop stock from a coastal gift shop that closed in the 1980s. They have been stored for decades and are not recent imports.

Each shell is natural and unpolished, with variation in tone and surface pattern.
