Humpbacked Cowrie (Mauritia mauritiana) A massive, remarkably heavy cowrie shell with a distinct high-domed, humped profile and steep, flattened black margins. The top features a highly polished dark brown coat pattern broken by beautiful, amber-coloured circular windows or reticulations.
Each shell comes complete with an identification label.

These shells are vintage shop stock from a coastal gift shop that closed in the 1980s. They have been stored for decades and are not recent imports.
