Inspired by the lowercase sections of a traditional English printer's type tray, this miniature display is designed for all those little things that are too interesting to leave in a drawer!
With individual compartments for displaying tiny fossils, little shells, pebbles and other small curiosities, it's a lovely way to keep a collection together and give each find its own place.
Made from 3mm plywood and finished with varnish, the tray recreates the traditional printer's case layout in miniature.
The compartments are only 3mm deep, making this display particularly suited to small, lightweight objects that can be secured in place with a little glue or adhesive dots.
Whether it's a collection of tiny fossils, little beach finds or an assortment of miniature curiosities, it's a small display with plenty of possibilities.
A little piece of printing history
Our Mini Printer's Tray is based on the lowercase section of the British California Job Case, traditionally used by printers to organise the individual pieces of metal type used in letterpress printing.
Although the California Job Case originated in America, it was also adopted by British printers. The British layout has some differences in the arrangement of its compartments, including a dedicated space for mids, the thin spacing materials used when setting type.
