A large and impressive Charonia tritonis, commonly known as Triton’s Trumpet.

Recognised for its elongated spiral form and flared opening, this is a substantial decorative shell with strong sculptural presence. Its warm natural colouring and bold scale make it well suited to shelves, consoles, or cabinet displays.

A Mid Century Seaside Provenance

This shell was originally sold in a tourist shop in Seaton, Devon during the 1950s and 1960s. It was supplied through Italian importers who sourced shells from coastal regions around the world, a common practice for British seaside businesses of the period.

Stored for decades, it is now being offered once again. Natural and unprocessed, it represents a small but tangible piece of mid twentieth century seaside trade and travel.

If more than one is available, each is sold individually. They display well as a balanced pair if desired.
